Reflected Reverie 2024

Statement
My work calls upon a state of deep absorption; a preoccupation with the false promises of an un-known unknown. I merge interior and exterior spaces to evoke the sense of being trapped between two moments exempted from physical reality. Through this merging, the viewer is invited into a process that resonates with queer experiences as it explores themes of escapism and (be)longing while engaging the othered and the uncanny. Each print visually narrates and examines connection to places we inhabit psychically, existentially, and affectively while we simultaneously—often by necessity—disconnect from the places we occupy physically.

This exhibit consists of an eight minute film projected onto hanging fabric that depicts a chair burning in a river. The video begins as the chair errupts in flames and slowly dies out to a single ember that dances in a mystic darkened space. On either side of the film, are two drawings framed in steel, hand welded structures, along with three intaglios and a stone lithograph.
